Trina’s teenage niece, affectionately known as “Baby Suga,” has been killed in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami.
The shooting occurred around midnight on Wednesday, and authorities decided against releasing the victim’s identity.
However, in separate statements to TMZ, Local 10 News and NBC 6, relatives and others close to the situation confirmed that the deceased 17-year-old was related to Trina and known as Baby Suga.

In addition to Trina’s niece, two other women sustained gunshot wounds as well. They were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, though their condition is currently unknown.
Authorities are looking into a potential motive behind the shooting, though it’s believed that Suga and the two other women were gunned down for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Trina, who hosted an event in another part of Miami mere hours ahead of the tragedy, has not yet released a public statement on Suga’s death.
It’s also worth noting that this heart-wrenching tragedy comes just a few days after the “Single Again” rapper appeared on Drink Champs and made headlines for praising her ex-boyfriend, Lil Wayne, as Blavity previously reported.
“Wayne, to me, has always been, like, a great person. Even just going beyond, like, back in the day just from our situation and just being young. Sometimes when you’re young and in this industry, you’re just fast, and it just doesn’t work out the way you plan or think it’s gonna work out,” Trina said.
“Wayne is real. Like, [he’s] one of the most honest guys I’ve ever been around or met. When I say honest … like a real honest person. Like he’s not with the games, and that’s not him. That was just never the situation,” she added. “He’s a great man, he’s a smart person, he was always amazing and nice to me.”
