Rapper and songwriter KayCyy called out Travis Scott for failing to credit his name on “Thank God,” a track featured on his newly released album Utopia. KayCyy noticed his name was missing from streaming platforms after fans pointed it out online.

“Y’all keep sending me these messages… Y’all  kno what I do..!” he tweeted in response to one of his fans. “I’m not no background singer…. f*ck Trav!!!”

The 25-year-old is listed in the song notes as a co-writer under his legal name, Mark Mbogo. His name is not officially listed on the track despite having a significant role in the chorus.

“KayCyy did way more than background vocals on Utopia and he didn’t get a main feature credit,” wrote a fan. “He’s clearly upset about it too, put his name on the track already ffs.”

The social media user noted that artists such as Bon Iver and Sampha were not credited either for their work on the track, “My Eyes.” Credits for artists such as Drake, Beyoncé and 21 Savage were added a few days after the album was released, according to Complex.

At the moment, neither Travis Scott nor his record label Cactus Jack have addressed the situation, nor have communicated as to whether additional credits will be added on streaming platforms.

KayCyy included the dispute on the cover art of his newly released single, “My Jeans.” It features the phrase, “I’M NOT NO BACKGROUND SINGER” against a black background.

KayCyy has shared some of the advice he garnered from working with Scott, which included knowing how much energy to give to a project versus how much to preserve for something else.

“There’s so much stuff I’ve learned by just watching and observing,” he told InkedMag. “I like being a sponge. Those types of experiences where I can learn are the most surreal.”

KayCyy started his career working behind the scenes producing for artists that have included Travis Scott, Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber. As a rapper, he has worked with French DJ Gesaffelstein and has contributed to Kanye West’s DONDA. His vocals can be heard on Ye’s track “Keep My Spirit Alive.”

“The Kanye stuff was crazy,” he told the magazine. “Listening back at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and everything I was playing, it was crazy to hear my voice playing out loud. Or even thinking, ‘That’s the joint I wrote.’”
