A New Orleans woman celebrated two noteworthy milestones; she graduated college and gave birth to her first baby. Jada Sayles gave birth to her son on Saturday, the same day she graduated from Dillard University.

Sayles went into labor at around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, the same day she graduated from Dillard University, a historically Black university in New Orleans.

Dilliard University’s outgoing president, Dr. Walter M Kimbrough, wrote a post about the touching weekend, saying he was in contact with Sayles and decided to bring the graduation ceremony to her the following day.

“Jada went into labor on Friday evening. Texted me around 4:30 a.m. Saturday saying she was being admitted,” Dr. Kimbrough tweets. “& the baby was born on her graduation day, May 14th. So we rolled up to the hospital so I could finish my tenure in the most special way. #myDU

Additionally, Dr. Kimbrough shared a video captured by his wife, Adria Kimbrough, Esq. Sayles’ family attended as well.

Sayles also took to her Twitter account to share the moment with her followers, saying that she expected to walk across the stage but instead met her “sweet face” baby.

“I thought I was gonna walk across the stage to get my degree; instead, I got my baby,” Sayles tweets. ” My sweet face decided to make his way on MY big day (now his). Shoutout to my university for still bringing my graduation and degree to me. Ima college graduate & mommy, talk to me nice!”

Sayles included photos of herself and her baby shortly after giving birth in the post and of her during her graduation ceremony while in the hospital.

According to her LinkedIn, Sayles received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections.

We congratulate Sayles on becoming a mom and on her graduation.
