Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Shaquil Barrett’s daughter, Arrayah, died after drowning in their pool this past weekend. The unthinkable tragedy occurred just days after her second birthday.

According to TMZ, the Buccaneers confirmed the news in a statement shared on social media.

“Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family,” the team wrote on Twitter. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna, and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time. While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.”

Authorities also confirmed the news to the outlet, telling TMZ that Arrayah was taken to a nearby hospital Sunday morning. Though first responders did everything possible to save her life, the 2-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after.

It’s unknown what caused the drowning, but authorities said they don’t believe the circumstances surrounding her death are suspicious. However, they are investigating the matter.

Barrett has not publicly addressed his daughter’s death yet.

The outside linebacker recently shared a touching birthday post for Arrayah on Instagram.

Happy 2nd bday to my cutie girl. So sweet and cute. You made our family complete. I love you baby girl 😘😘#TGBTG #BIG2,” he wrote along with a carousel of seven pictures of the adorable 2-year-old.

According to Bossip, Barrett married his wife, Jordanna, in 2012. They have three other children: 11-year-old Shaquil Jr., 9-year-old Braylon and 8-year-old Aaliyah.
